This document does not replace EVS 920-5, legislation, the project, calculations, or the manufacturer’s instructions.

RFP-002 describes the internal House of RAMERK procedure for preparing, controlling, documenting, and handing over roofing works. Applicable requirements are confirmed separately for each project.

Chapter 001

Purpose

A roof is complete not when it merely looks finished, but when its layers, water paths, junctions, and documentation form one verified system.

The purpose of RFP-002 is to make roofing quality control consistent, clear, and demonstrable from substrate inspection through handover to the owner.

A roof protects quietly. Its quality must be proven before the weather tests it.
Chapter 002

Scope

The procedure applies to roof repairs and roof construction within the agreed project scope.

Flat and low-slope roofs.
Pitched roofs and their coverings.
Vapour control, thermal insulation, and waterproofing.
Outlets, gutters, downpipes, and emergency overflows.
Junctions, parapets, penetrations, and metal details.
Chapter 003

Responsibilities

Every inspection point has an owner.

Defines the construction, materials, falls, and junctions.

Site Team

Executes the work in accordance with the project and method statements.

Quality Control

Inspects layers before they are concealed and records the evidence.

Handover

Compiles the roof passport, records, and owner recommendations.

Chapter 004

Before Work Begins

Most roofing defects begin before the first layer is installed.

The project, junctions, and work boundaries have been reviewed.
The condition of the substrate and existing structures has been recorded.
Temporary protection, weather conditions, and material storage have been confirmed.
Inspection points for concealed works have been agreed.
Temporary water-drainage paths during construction have been checked.

Material Verification

A material must be correct not only by name, but also by its intended function within the system.

Chapter 006

Substrate & Slopes

Water must have a predesigned path.

Before concealment, the substrate, falls, local depressions, outlet levels, and the ability to drain water continuously are checked. Any nonconformity is corrected before subsequent layers are installed.

Project values prevail.

Numerical falls and tolerances are taken from the project, applicable standard, and manufacturer’s system.

Chapter 007

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is accepted as a continuous envelope.

The substrate is dry, clean, and prepared.
Overlaps and welded joints are executed in accordance with the system.
There are no damaged, folded, or unbonded areas.
Junctions have the required height and fixing.
Penetrations are formed using system components.
Chapter 008

Drainage

The roof must drain water in the designed direction without unintended traps.

Chapter 009

Flashings & Connections

Roof reliability is most often determined where the geometry changes.

Parapets and drip edges.
Junctions with walls and shafts.
Building-services penetrations.
Movement joints.
Edges, eaves, and metal flashings.
Chapter 010

Hidden Works

Every layer that is concealed must leave evidence behind.

Before concealment, records and photographs are prepared for the vapour control layer, insulation, fixings, falls, waterproofing, outlets, and junctions. Photographs must show not only the general view, but also scale, location, and area identification.

Inspection & Testing

The inspection method is selected according to the risk and roof-system type.

Continuity, damage, geometry, and junctions.

Levels, falls, and element positions.

Agreed testing of joints or the membrane.

Drainage

Verification of an unobstructed water path.
